Since the first weekend of rockfishing was blown out, ChuckE & I decided to do a weekday excursion.  We had the time so plans were made to head down to Limekiln.  We ended up fishing to the north.  The conditions were great - wind & swell were non-factors.   :smt001

We fished between 50-100fsw and used mostly diamond jigs & swimbaits.  Started out at the outer edge of some kelp & on the first drop, I pulled up a blue with a nice hitchhiker ling.  Free gaffed & stoned the ling with a lucky shot to the brain.  Soon after, I looked over to see Chuck bringing up a feisty ling as well.  We ended up catching 3 nice lings right off the bat up to 31".  All lings after that were released.  Moving around, we found some big fat reds, a few going 20"+.  Coppers to 20".  Cabs to 22".  Towards the end of the day, we released some decent reds & coppers as well.   :smt003

All in all, it was an awesome day on the water.  First time I've been fishing from a yak in over half a year(been diving/spearfishing), so it was cool to get back out there.  Beautiful conditions, lots of quality fish, and great company.   :smt004

Every time I rockfish with the Fuzz..... it usually ends in carnage.  Poor fishies.  That was fun!

Wow, when did you guys figure out that it was time to start C & R, when you ran out of room on your game clips or when you didn't have anymore room in your tank wells?  LOL   :hello2:

Don't you just love it, after a hit or miss winter season, fishing for rockies lets you fill up the freezer again.  Oh yeah, lets not forget about the "friends" and relatives that are standing on the sidelines waiting for some fresh fish.  Eat what you catch...

Yup :smt047  .... but I know my moment of glory on top of the leader board won't last when the other front-runners get their chance to drop some jigs in the salt.
