These are 2 ideas I am definitely using this year, the curlytail grub or swimbait trailer on iron, and the swimbait stinger.

I may also use a hoochie/salmon bead in there somewhere.  Maybe we could have a "pimp my lure" contest...

Thanks for sharing!

I was thinking about having a jig painting contest at Elk. Still shopping for molds. I might be just machine a mold similiar to the megabait style jigs.

Brian, let me know when you get some molds.  I got about 100 pounds of lead sitting in my driveway.

d'OH!  Okay Brian...  But still it seems like a good idea, and i think agarcia is onto something.

Perhaps we should submit sweater designs that most closely represent the spirit of NCKA.

The winning design could be awarded 100lbs of lead shaped into a gaff, or a guarantee for future design work supported by NCKA but paid for by its advertising sponsors through logos on sweaters.

Kind of like Nascar jackets.

I have a mold for 3 and 4oz spear jigs.  They're very good for deep work because they dive fast.

Seriously though, anything works.  Fishing lures are just like beer - they all do the job, just some regions have certain favorites they're partial to.   You could order a set of 22 chrome plated wrenches from harbor freight for 17 bucks, put hooks on them and they'll work as well as $5 diamond jigs...  It's not a fashion show down there - if it's bite sized and gives off vibrations and a little shininess it'll get chomped.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

I have a combination 4 and 6 oz shad jig mold, however, either I suck at smelting, my lead sucked for pouring or the mold sucks cause I couldn't get the damn thing to fill properly.  I tried all the tips and secrets for a good flow but nothing worked.

Art - Papa Bill (or his dad) does really good work with making jigs / molding plastics....send him flowers or take him to the movies and he'll show you how it's done  :smt002
