Well I got that six gill surf rod last month and wanted to try it out, so I hit Seaside beach on my way in to Monterey for the holiday. Only fished for about an hour didn't get any surf perch sadly but I stuck a ray on some bait (either sand fleas or squid I forgot which hook had which) gave up a great fight, was pretty fun.

DANG! Your surf looks a little more 'gentile' than what we have here in Crescent City.

Super flat day, I only go there around thanksgiving but based on that experience it was one of the flattest days I've ever seen.
