Planned to go to Mendocino area this weekend, but made a last minute change of plans (due to the fires) and now heading to Pismo Beach.  I'll try a post on the Central Coast Kayak forum too, but wanted to see if any fellow NCKA'ers will be in the area or have any tips for good launches/fishing grounds.  I've heard that Avila Beach and Shell Beach (Pismo) are decent spots.  Thinking Morro Bay could be fun too if the swell/wind is too much elsewhere.

I'll be there Thurs afternoon through Sunday if anyone's heading down.

Love the Pismo area. Just be prepared to paddle a mile out to get to some decent fishing grounds. My recommendation is to launch from MDO. Beautiful and easy launch. Shell is a bit of a long stairway walk down to launch and I lack confidence and experience with surf launches and landings. MDO is a nice cove and was an easy launch. Ryanimpreza on CCK has some great info on the area. Good luck!
