How to rack an Outback?

Hopefully I'm pitchin' this in an acceptable area because on one hand it's a boat-specific question & a "How do you roll" question on the other hand, so I did the El Combino.

I have a Hobie Revo-16 & my wife has an Outback.  How do folks rack carry their wide-ass Outbacks?  OMG, that sucker is 36" wide, and while I can technically fit it on my bars with my Revo in its tray, the Outback saddle setup leaves a LOT to be desired. J-saddles?  Upside-down?  Thule Glide 'n Set Saddles?

Don't have a good answer, but in NWKA, someone badly dented a new Outback on the way home from the dealer by carrying it in J-racks - the Outback is thick for a J-rack, so be careful about the fit.

I rack mine upside down on my Yakima round bars. It's a tank, but once you figure out a carrying/loading method that works for you, it's not too bad.

I'm considering buying a Yakima "Boatloader", which is basically a cross bar extension. My back sucks (scoliosis), and some days the lift is pretty unpleasant. It'd be nice to have the option of lifting half of my boat at a time if my back is bothering me.

Boatloaders rock!

+1 My boatloader allows me to load my T13 on the roof of my F-150 solo.

Loading on a tall vehicle is becoming painfull and time consuming, however. Those Thule Hullivators are starting to look like they're worth the cost

I'm using the Thule Dock Glides and they work great.  But I did dent the shit out of the bottom of my Outback by cinching it down too tight.  I also have the Outrigger which pulls out of the bar and helps prop the boat up while you lift it to the roof.  Expensive as all hell but works well.  Give me a call if you have any questions.
