Anyone planning on hitting Stillwater Cove on Saturday or Sunday?? Looking for someone to paddle out with. (And help me carry my beastly sit on top up the stairs.) :smt001 Weather permitting.

If it lays down, I'll be taking my brother out for his first yakfishing trip out of pebble.  It'd be fun to do a meet and greet with ya.

The marine forecast does look a little foreboding with the wind waves at 3 to 7 feet. I hope it goes down. It would be fun for me to meet and greet you guys too! Lets keep in touch and keep our eyes on the forecast. Your brother will probably get hooked (pun intended)

Im just spoiled. My kevlar closed deck weighed 38 pound, this one is over 60 I think. I can get it off and on my truck, its just carrying it up and down the stairs at Pebble Beach is a LOT easier with two people.

Hey Kim,

No matter the weather, Pat and I are stuck in a class all this weekend.   :smt013

We're planning Stillwater on Sunday the 13th, though, and I'll be happy to help you with that Marauder if you can make it then.

Aw crud I just found out I 'volunteered' to help my sons school move equipment this weekend.  So instead of yaks, I'll be hauling desks, books etc.

hope the weather cooperates for you all

I've never been to Stillwater Cove so I was searching up some info and found this.

From the Monterey County Health Dept.

"AS OF 5/2/2007 STILLWATER COVE IS UNDER A RAIN ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR ALL MONTEREY COUNTY BEACHES. THE PUBLIC IS ADVISED NOT TO HAVE OCEAN WATER CONTACT FOR THREE DAYS AFTER THE LAST RAIN EVENT."

Is this something to take seriously?

That is a mandatory warning that accompanies each rain event. Its because the sewer systems in PG and Carmel suck (and lead directly to the ocean in some cases).

This particular storm didn't produce enough rain to cause concern. I'd say go for it! Just don't freedive or surf and swallow a bunch of water!

I've never been there and I would like to try it Sunday.  Could someone provide me with directions from Highway 1 and what are the details (such as fees, parking situation, etc.)?  Thanks for any help!

windrider,
I'm not sure what exit to take off 1 but it is the pebble beach exit. at the end of the off ramp, go straight thru the intersection and take the hairpin corner to the right. Pay the $8.25 launch and access fee (map provided) and follow the lower road to the golf course and follow the signs to the coastal access. I think it's by the country club. Be aware you can only unload at the access point and not park. Club members get pretty assed up if you make them walk an extra ten feet to the can. Seriously, members tend to feel we are intruding there so be as polite as possible. Don't be offend if someone hands you keys and tells you to park the Lexus.

$9. fee now. Offramp is at the top of the hill as you go from Mntry toward
Carmel, it's also known as Hwy 68 (Goes toward Pacific Grove) (I forget the exit number).  Go DOWN the hill after you get in the gate, go for a couple of miles mostly downhill, then it opens up on a flat and that's where you're going thru the golf course and will turn left and then left again.  Watch for the Beach Club signs.  Have a good time. I am at a family reunion, but will probably be out next week or weekend.

only fished there twice myself and have to say its nice and I have had no negative experiences with the locals, monied or otherwise.  But I am intrigued by the idea of getting a jacket and waiting for someone to toss me the keys to a high end ride.

Technically, is that theft?

"but officer, he told me to park it, so I parked it! " (in vegas :smt002)

on the storm warning, they have them in santa cruz as well at cowells, natural bridges, capitola, new brighton and rio.  Not many pay attention, but then again look around santa cruz and decide if it has any influence.
