Chabots' Scenic Waters and Bass Cove 4/29

Had plans to troll up a TWENTY-POUND TROUT that were recently planted and after that happened, I was heading to Bass Cove to get me a 10lb.er'

Listening to the wind blow all night,i was skeptical.After getting a call from HobieTone, that the wind was not bad and the sun was shining,I was off!

Got to the lake and paddled to the island,where i caught up with him and Janice/Big J.
He had just C&R'd a #3 LMB he trolled up w/lipless crankbait(gold)
I started to toss the island for bass while Janice trolled to Raccoon Pt. in " search of " (never to be seen again)

No luv at the island, so I trolled til i couldn't take it no more( saw some tullies )

We make it to Bass Cove and guess what?

Not a dam fish or bass in those coves,but it sure looks "Bassey" so lets call it......

Since I didn't get a fish from that fricken cove,I paddled back to the marina along the west shoreline,weeds,vegetation and steep-rocky drops to get my fourth bass of the day(15" was the big one)

Moral of this story?........just cuz its got a good name,DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE!!

I'll never go back to that dam place again............      see you there soon!

Yo, HobieTone and FisHunter! I'm alive and well but fishless. After paddling around the island for nada, I headed for Raccoon Point and then along the east shore to Bass Cove. I trolled three different Rapalas--black/gold, black/red/gold, and a bluegill--and cast a rainbow KastMaster. I only got one nibble on the troll and back in Bass Cove got one good bite that made my reel sing. Wouldn't you know I was in the process of taking off my fleece jacket so I couldn't grab the paddle or rod in time to set the hook. On my leisurely paddle back to the marina I did my "Moochette" thing by talking with kids fishing from shore and recruiting the next generation of NCKAers! On shore, a young man took pity on me and helped me pull my boat uphill to the car and then even gave me a 10-lb. anchor that didn't work for his skiff. Maybe I did score! Anyway, the day was beautiful, and I got some nice nature pix.

Thanks for the pic Janice!  I lost one at Ala.rockwall last weekend,while being pre-occupied also(visiting the lil'boys bottle) TMI!!  I know.......
J~when I troll, i set the drag so loose,that if I go over 3mph. the reel will let me know=TOO FAST! and if that fish hits it?,it will have less tension,consider the momentum of the forward moving yak X the fish that MAYBE heading in the opposite direction with your lure.
