Hi guys just saw Chet's lamiglass thread.

Just wanted to ask if anyone has experience with St. Croix. Just snapped my triumph mf 6'6" about to send it back its around 8 years old and past the 5 year warranty.
is it worth sending it back?

If you go on their website it explains their warranty options. They are extremely fair about taking care of their product. I have had 3 experiences dealing with them about screwups I have created and have come out feeling taken care of each time. I would probably call them to talk it over with them first.

If you're paying 400 bucks for a rod then that sucker better be worth it. I pay for value.  I've never picked up or fished a rod that I've felt is worth $200 more than my value mid range rods ($75-150 or so)  So if I'm paying that much more then they better last that much longer under the same type of use. I won't baby any of my gear just because it costs more money. If I'm paying a ton of money I expect it to last forever, especially if the manufacturer uses a lifetime warranty as a selling point.

Time to buy a new one.  8 years of use, you got your money's worth and  its 3 yrs past the written guarantee.
