Dont repair it, put a new tip where it broke off.

That 10" section is critical as it's my salmon rod.
I am trying to save it.

Anyone did it before?

I've seen it done.  they essentially make a sleeve that can fit both sides of the broken tip in, wrap and epoxy it.  it could potentially change the action a bit however.  I would say to contact one of the local rod builder guys to see what advice they have.  there's one that's friends with the south bay crew, khanh.

It broke fighting a salmon. However I did not see the moment it snapped.

Yes. It went on a brine at the moment.

Fiberglass. a big fiberglass rod sand down to almost a toothpick.

Sorry about your rod, Chet. Looking forward to seeing how the repair comes out. Like others have said it is almost impossible to make a strong repair without affecting the action.

The repair I did resulted in a stiff spot, but it was in the mid-section so I didn't mind.

I forgot the update. Sorry.
The repair is still going strong. No sign of failure.

I've done it before but it broke again a few inches down.  The reinforced piece would not flex so the stress was all focused at that point.  So my advice is don't do it. 

I found out after that many rods have warranties.  If you rod isn't that old, it may still have some coverage.
