Went out a little ways down from the actual point and I was just looking in holes... pulled the trigger 2 times on some big China's and they just fell off. My buddies got a couple rockcod and lost a nice ling. I didn't shoot anything but still a great time!

Post a few pictures of your speargun setup (including tip/flopper).  May be a simple fix.   :-)
