Fished HMB Cans with the rest of the fleet, I had to leave early so I got lucky and put in a nice 10 lb fish around 9 am 30' otw Straight Krome Kripple. Below there's a video of me fighting the salmon when my damn reel came flying off of the rod seat and the arm hits the free spool..... Felt like a rookie all over again... sigh.......

Was that a rooky move (forgetting to tighten reel)?  Good save, especially by not dropping reel into the water!

Cool dash cam perspective on the video...

Gotta love the Hobie drive to power thru and keep   tension on the fish
During reel mishap.

Nice catch.

Great job landing that fish even with the reel popped out. May I ask what kind of rod you have there?
Yesterday I too had a jumping salmon at hmb, but after a failing attempt to net it, it made another run, jumped and shook off. I felt if my rod wasn't so stiff it wouldn't have been able to throw the hook. It was a big fish too. Couldn't stop thinking about it.

Lucky13 be careful w those jumpers, they're mostly silvers Even the bigger ones tend to be acrobatic
