I'll start working on my boss and see if he lets me play hookie.  Problem is he is one mean son of a gun.  He always sees right through my excuses.  Im self employed!

are the pinnacles still open or was that taken away by the DFG magic wand?

Don't sweat it Etienne. I just thought it humorous that we both used the word "hooky" to talk about rockfishing on 5/1.

If the Salmon reports off of Pinos are dismal, I'll probably head out of Santa Cruz for rockies. If the Salmon reports show some promise, I'll think about doing the extra couple hours drive to get down to Monterey. Heck, my manager may not even approve of the idea...

E2G - Pinnacles are open now, but not for long...

Rockies and Salmon: I know this subject has been talked about on Coastside and probably here too, I'll have to search it out.  After a quick look at the regs, it looks like you can't fish for or transport rockfish beyond 240ft deep, and can't use barbed hooks with salmon on board.
I can't make it past noon on Tues, so I guess I'll concentrate on rockies, but I could be persuaded to try for salmon first, then go barbless for rockies if I got a salmon.  We probably ought to get our licks in at the Pinnacles while we can, tho, and that makes Stillwater a better bet than CRSB.

I think I will focus on RF and lings this trip and let the old salmon have a break from laughing at my offerings.

I like to go early so I am thinking Stillwater 5:30 or so, make sure to get a good parking spot, and launch around 6.  Will fish up the north side, out to the pinnacles and then further north along and in the kelp.  Ch 69 if you are late.  If I do limit out by 7:30 or 8........................ I could drop my fish in the cooler in the car switch up my gear and head back out for a try at salmon.  They love my comedy.   :smt005  Or I am a glutton for punishment.

I probably won't be as early as you, but I'll try to get there at 6 and head as far out as the conditions permit toward the P'cles.  I'll try to think the sooner out the sooner back for my nap.

It's going to mean an extra hour of driving overall, but I'll go for Stillwater. 5:30 AM, why not? See you guys there.
