I scooped up at least 10 pounds of tray size anchovies today. Please stop by and pick some up if you'd like to brine your own bait or try out an anchovy recipe. I should be around most of the day until 8:30 PM.

About 30 minutes before I launched a large commercial net boat dropped them (as bycatch?) south of the harbor. If you want to catch your own there is a huge school right outside the Half Moon Bay jaws right now. A small sabiki would probably get you a few dozen and a large, fine-mesh cast net might get you a few hundred pounds.

Yellow Adventure 16? Sounds like that was me. I started mooching the fresh anchovies and almost immediately caught a halibut. At that point, I just mooched/slow trolled back to the launch.

Yup, sounds like it was you.  I heard about the halibut, please do tell the juicy details!  I think I saw you toward the south side by the jaws.  I'll be sure to come by and say hello next time.

Last year I ran a bunch of these thru my meat grinder and froze them in my bait jars for crab season.  Best results I've ever seen. As they thaw when soaking they milk out all that oil. One to  two hour soaks produced well.
