Just one thing to remember… You can get over motion sickness. I consider myself one of the most prone of anybody I've met, and after spending a lot of time on the water (and taking meclizine) I can take anything up to 10 foot swells without feeling sick . In my opinion, what you eat, drink, or smoke has absolutely no effect on seasickness.  I had also tried many of the homeopathic remedies and absolutely none of them worked. If the vagus nerve gets stimulated you're gonna puke.  More exposure equals less nerve stimulation.... At least that's how I've come to think of it. :smt001

All great advice fellas. I'm just absorbing all this knowledge. I have moments of getting sick and last time out I kept getting distracted either from landing some fish or kept my mind busy paddling around. I just noticed once I was home i felt drained and deprived of any energy whatsoever. I'm assuming it was from the Dramamine. Eventually I plan on winging off. But all the advice is much appreciated one again

If I do a somersault; I'm done for the day.
Having qualified that; if I go diving and take nothing; I am sick.
If I go on a boat and take nothing; I am sick.
If I go on my kayak and take nothing; I am fine.
There is no real rhyme nor reason to this. It just is what it is.

One more vote for meclizine. Cheap, doesn't make me drowsy, supposed to last 24 hrs. Usually keeps the nausea at or below 2/10.

Stuff makes me feel hollow and drony....For me....head up.... hydration.....pre-tied rigs...protein...puke....feel better....talk to myself a lot for reminders....debate quitting kayaking forever....puke....feel better....man up....find hope in catching fish....rejoice at landing....recover for a few days....try again....2-4 ft. swells every 12-15sec., 2-5mph winds...  :smt006

I've never chummed, and the OTC meds weird me out, but I can get queasy if there are short cross swells, so I try to avoid those days or have a bit of ginger candy.
But I start the day before with a good-sized lunch of mild, non-spicy food , with a light mild dinner, and on launch day have breakfast of tea and a protein drink or egg nog (egg whites, OJ, soy milk, flax seed meal, nutmeg and ginger).
It also helps to have had a bowel movement in the morning. Also, I've noticed I have fewer issues if I've taken an antihistamine (Allegra or Claritin) if my allergies are acting up anyway. (I've read that some motion sickness meds are strong anti-histamines, so I wouldn't take both at the same time.)
But some people are just very sensitive to motion, so I consider myself lucky not to be one of them.

Having to do all that seems pretty sensitive .....I just do whatever and go. If I ever get sick OTW is because I would have also gotten sick on land  :smt001

My boy on the other hand is not so lucky. We will be trying D. Leete's ( love the name change  :smt044) recommendation above.

We'll let you know how it goes.
