Wanting to add a rod holders to the Revo-13. Many have suggested to ad a rail above the foot Wells (first pic), but I would prefer not to have anything in the way for car topping. I was thinking about the area above the logo (second pic).
Any drawbacks to this location?

You're thinking of mounting the rail on the outside? I've never seen that before, but it looks like it could work. But, one thing you might consider is that you'll probably get a lot more flex there than if mounted in the usual place (picture 1).

I've got a Adventure/Revo 16 and an AI, and I've mounted rod holders on the surfaces inside the pockets (roughly, the "inside" version of what you are thinking of doing on the "outside"). I reinforced all of those with fairly large 1/4" starboard plastic backing gooped in place. I felt that was necessary to make them reasonably solid.

Finally, I'd wager that the plastic on one side of your Hobie is much thinner than the other side (that's the case on both of mine). If so, the thinner side will require even more substantial backing than the thicker side.

I've seen the pro angler with the bar mounted on the side. I say go for it.

Pa is a completely different hull..... I'd lean towards caution when drilling into the thinner part of the boat, if your planning on salmon trolling don't even try the lower spot stick to the thick! The top of the gunwales are the support so makes sense mounting there..... would you bolt your bumper to the grill instead of the frame on a car?

I just installed some flushmount scotty holders with backing just past the net pockets and I love them so far. They are very sturdy and dont get in the way on my trucks lumber rack. I also installed rails down on top of the pockets and they arent very solid even with backing, I wouldnt trust them for much besides a fish finder or camera mount or something

Just curious, how hard is it to get the rods out from a seated position?
Looks like it would be a bit of work to get to them which could mean missing some bites.

The bad news is that if similarly mounted on the outside (as yakhopper suggests) they'd likely be even less solid. The good news is that there is more room there for a larger backing plate to spread the load. One other thing... if you do use starboard (or similar) plastic for backing, you can use a heat gun to easily shape it to match the contour.

Its a little bit of a reach but its definitely not a deal breaker for me. What sells me is that its just way more solid than the regular scotty track adapter. I used the rocket launcher in the track adapter one time and I was not happy with it. It was flimsy and wouldnt be any good for trolling. 3$J suggested using the scotty mighty mount (beefed up track adapter) but I decided to go with the flushmounts up front. Anyway im 5'7 so anyone taller should have an easy time reaching their rod

I would suggest that you use aluminum track with proper backing.  With hard hitting species (or snag), the plastic ones will flex and your gearhead may pop out.  Happened to me (the gearhead is rock solid, so suggestion is only to use different track).  'used yakattack, railbalza, and scotty track, all the same failure.

i put my mount by the steering handle so the reach between manuvering the yak and adjusting the downrigger depth is minimized  it worked out great!
