HKUP Alameda or Berkeley Halibut Sunday 7/2

I was up in Timber Cove on Friday and today. Headed home early due to too much wind.

According to the Windfinder app, it looks to be fishable in the bay on Sunday. (7mph)

I would like to go to either ARW or Berkeley Flats (which I've never fished).

I really don't want to go alone.

Is anyone else going?

I will heading to the wall. Should be there between 7 and 730. A bit of incoming so will work towards Bayfarm and then back down the wall.

I'm gonna grab some live anchovies at scomas on the way.

Got my popsicles already.

I got nothing, not even a shorty. Not sure how many shorts that Lilriverman got. RnRgeek got one that he can tell about.

Once again, Martianfish saved my butt.

We were heading out way past the flagpole to Bay Point (?) and about  1/3rd of the way out, I got a big strike. My rod went way down and I thought it must've been a leopard shark or a ray because it was fighting pretty hard.

Up comes a 28 1/2 inch halibut.

As I was reaching for my net, like a dumbass, I knocked my gaff into the water. Idiot move #1

Martianfish goes to retrieve the gaff for me while I'm trying to net the fish.

I realized my net was not big enough after I couldn't get him in the net. Idiot move #2

Martianfish then comes over and nets him with his  and is rewarded by getting a saltwater shower from the Halibut.

I thank the Godfather for once again helping me land another fish. I would've kissed the ring but he wasn't wearing it.

Excellent day OTW  with a couple good guys. I was pull into the parking lot when I went DUH I forgot my bait. RNRGeek saved my day with a generous offering of fresh Anchovies. Thanks !!!! We  three made a side by side beeline, south, towards the Airport.  After my second undersize Hali, I stopped to untangle my umbrella rig. I look up and they are netting a Hali..
Three undersized Hali and a few bites for the day. Almost bagged me a dinner plate size Turtle, but I couldn't get to my net before it dove under. Red mark on the side of it's face.  Escapee from a Chinese market. I've seen them at local lakes, but had no idea that they could tolerate salt.

nice fish guys. Good report! I got one across the bay at oyster point and a bunch of shakers as well. They only wanted bait today and I lost a couple heavy bites yesterday as well.

Right on guys!!! Great report. Great fish and sounds like some lessons were learned. What a fun way to learn. I love some halibut showers. 

How deep were those bad boys? Anyone try Berkeley flats yet?

RnR's was in 10 to 12 feet about 1/3 the way from the launch going towards Bayfarm.
