If anyone is crazy enough to brave 15 - 30 knot winds off Pt Pinos, it sounds like the salmon fishing has started to happen. Big fish being reported.

I'm prepared to take a day off if the conditions settle down...  Hope they're still there...

I am at least going to load up gear and drive out there to take a look at conditions and a possible launch from Coral St. or even Otter or Lovers on Sunday morning.  Post up if you want to join me.  It has not looked very pleasant out there the last few days but I want to get back out there.  It is a short drive for me so not much is lost if I decide not to launch.  A launch from Stillwater (I have never seen a bad launch from there) may also get us out to the  salmon.  Conditions willing, company welcome.

Coastside is reporting fish 15 miles south of the gate

I drove by LM on Friday and it looked launchable.  Pinos is too close for me not to try. Good luck.  Hope to see you out there blue.  Looks like the main part of the storm has broken down here.  I am heading out to take a look at the launch possibilities now.  Will post a time if it looks doable.

I just got back from the Point and Coral Street is launchable tonight as of 5:30.  That  is the good news.  There were white caps and strong wind outside (the bad news) but it was just after the front passed and evening.  I am hoping the wind dies tonight and if the seas stay the same launch from Coral St. at 6 or 6:30 and drag my balls around Point Pinos in search of the elusive king. If it still looks bad outside, I will pickup fresh bagels for breakfast and head home.  Join me if you can and/or report from LM or not.

Must be nice to be close to Monterey

Monday looks good and none of the swell looks bad

The wind forecasts always seemed pretty unreliable either way

I might make the drive to LM this week and see how it looks from up on devil's slide

Wind chimes at hotcitysalmonville  :smt005 were screaming all night but seem to have subsided somewhat right now (about 5:30 AM).  Although they still let out a periodic shudder as a gust pushes through, I have coffee on and will at least drive down to look at the water before I decide to go or not.  I will let you know what happens.

OK, I am not crazy enough to brave 15-30 knot winds to chase salmon at Pt. Pinos.  I drove down there all full of liquid enthusiasm and stood on shore looking at the launch into the teeth  of the wind and all flags straight out from their poles.  While there where not white caps every where, there were many random breakers out and the swell had increased since last evening.  It was an easy decision not to launch though I did see a few PBs heading out and launching.  Looked to me like an exercise in seasickness.
