It would cost less to use real squid instead of B2 or other brand of plastics.  Just saying...

But it would smell so much worse when I leave it in my backseat for a week...  :smt011

Fun project, I just started and completed yesterday.

A few observations from the build; I only allowed myself to spend $23 dollars on materials, a "yum-brella" rig, and a few squid imitations. As you can see in the picture, I have a fraction of the squid on my version than the original dredge. To match the 15 squid bodies on the original dredge, I (at Dicks sporting goods) would have needed to purchase 8 packages (2 squid per package) at $4.99 each. That's $40 on squid imitations. I got the umbrella rig for $12. The dredge is on sale for $50 I believe from the company Ruben's came from. In short, if I didn't love a good project, I would probably just purchase online. Not sure how mine will work in comparison, but it was fun!  obviously cheaper if you have some parts lying around at home. i also used a large high end barrel swivel to separate the squid, some 25 lb test line, and an FBR with two snelled octopus hooks.

Wsb magnet!  Lol. Careful dragging that around tomales bay. I heard that place is kinda ghostie certain time of the year. :smt044
