Intentional or coincidence?
Yesterday I replied to the thread, "How old is your oldest reel that you still fish".
This was my reply, "Pfluger Medalist  1494 1/2  30+years".
This morning I get an email from Amazon with the title:
"Pflueger President Spinning Re..." and more
Of course there are shopping recommendations based on previous Amazon purchases in the email which I understand, but I had no idea they were so assiduous in their tracking.

I have never looked up or typed Honda Ridgeline on my phone yet the other day I was talking to a co worker about one in the parking lot and later that very same day I had a sponsored ad for Honda Ridgeline on my Facebook feed.

Every single keystroke you send thru the web is tracked, filed and cataloged to see how it can be used for marketing, even opening and just looking at a post herein will cause your banner ads to change. Years ago I looked at a post on NCKA at work about the best fillet knife, and on my home computer my banner ads were all about knives, especially dexters which were prominently mentioned in the post. It was a learning experience.

As for stone85, well, your phone might have been in your pocket, but it was probably listening to you and ratted you out the advertisers. :smt002

Not just how much, but for how long will you be tracked?  Forever!  Companies are building super duper clusters of servers to hold and use that data, and it never goes away.  All of the big companies are doing it, and will continue to compile and compile the information they can get on everyone they can.  They know where you work, where you shop, where you live, all from the free apps you use.  You didn't even have to tell them anything.  You just use a map navigator to get home a few times, or to work and then keep repeating the behavior.

Do you often get these emails? I shop Amazon often and don't get any.

If they mined the discarded posts, the ones you type up, but decide not to post....that, would be some great data on that person! I googled ravensblack and now all I get is offers to download Black Crow singles and gay porn pop ups. Lol  :smt044

I have all my location services off on Facebook yet I've gotten suggested friends. For people in places that I've been. For example a delivery driver that used to deliver to my shop was recommended as someone I might know. Example 2 we went to Modesto and had lunch at wild wings the next day our waitress was recommended as someone I might know. I have zero mutual friends with these people.
