Any suggestions on places to pump shrimp on the East Bay side? Preferably between Emeryville and Crockett.

Natural color. Just like the mud shrimp are blue.

Dunno bout the east bay, but they are plentiful out at bodega and tomales . 1 good hr of pumping will give you enough bait for 2 days.

Mud shrimp are great bait but it's a lot of work to get those. Ghost are a lot easier to get. I only keep the jumbo size . And let the little ones go back . Sometimes you get pile worms at the same time.

I forget the time of the year when the mud shrimp spawn, but when they do it's a massive swarm swimming along the shore. My buddy encountered once in Crockett.

I can't imagine mud shrimp swimming, they must have been running from some toxic spill.

My buddy described the spawn as a huge ball of shrimp stretching from the shore to 80ft out! Filled the water from surface to bottom.

So how do you keep those to be used Later? Just freeze them? Aerated In a bucket? Or only use the same day you fish?

I use them within two days keep them alive with a fish tank aerator... if I got left overs I just vacuum bag n freeze them. Otherwise they will stink n rot.
