Anybody hear about those 3 kayakers that capsized in Bodega Bay? Anybody know who they were? Were they fishing? What actually happened?
I was out walking on the GG bridge with a sleeveless shirt staring at the water wishing I was out on it because it was so calm. Man...

Didn't hear about that. I was out fishing the Jetty at Doran beach on Saturday. It said there was a small vessel advisory, but the water was flat ass calm, looked like a little bass pond it was so calm. I think the wind picked up a little in the afternoon though.

Maiden voyage?  Do we get a trip report and fish/crab porn?  Details man!

I was going to update with a report, but nothing to report really. No maiden voyage (although it looked like it would have been a nice day for it), I was just chucking a snare off of the jetty, didn't catch shit. Everybody around me did alright though. I am not convinced about the snares yet.

Snares are pretty popular nowadays. It's crazy how they catch more than nets off the pacifica pier. I've been crabbing for over 30 years and it's become the thing the past decade. I still have a hard time thinking about dishing out the $ on a Penn 8000 only to be thrashed by using it to go crabbing

I dunno....good enough for snares off of the jetty though. You catch 3 crabs and it already paid for itself at $6.99/lb

I've got 4 or 5 of them that I never use. Might have to try that out.

I was there pretty much all day, saw a portoboat, get saved on the south jetty when both coast guards boats were doing some planned practice maneuvers, then the fan kick on full blast at about 2pm. 2 kayaker and looked like 16' aluminum boat got saved also. It was super calm in the morning. . Like like always blowdega in the afternoon.

I was there Sunday and it was effing gorgeous until the wind came. What time were you on golden gate?! There was a huge outgoing tide this weekend with the full moon plus offshore winds  later in the day...it looked like they got picked up halfwayish to Dillon and I heard a witness say they were wearing waders.

This post seems to have gotten off topic.  Here are some details

One man clinging to the side of kayak was able to get a garbled message to coast guard at 4:30pm.  Second guy was in the water.  Third guy was able to make it to shore.
