Santa Cruz Halibut

Went free diving after work yesterday and speared a 9 lb halibut in the shallows. Theyre moving in, so get out there and get em.

I just bought a gun and flippers today to complete my outfit for spear fishing (free diving).   I have never done it, but will be spending the weekend in Santa Cruz. Any chance you want to take me out and show me the ropes on Sunday? I'm not sure I have the right gun for halibut, I got the short one, similar to the 38 special.  Gabe

Real shallow-no more than 5 ft! Theres a thick halibut spawning bed in the longboard surf area off Cowells beach... Right up against the cliffs.
