Is that any different than the other outlying regional airports like Modesto, Monterey, Chico, Redding, etc?

They usually do this to subsidize the cost for small operators like Skywest for people flying longer legs. If you aren't going on to somewhere else, the full fare is around $400. Not that Santa Rosa needs something like this as much as we do up here, but if United thinks people will use it, go for it.

That's actually pretty sweet if you're just using it to get to SF for a connection flight.

I work two blocks away from the airport. Given the example in the article I would gladly pay that extra $60 instead of driving to SF and dealing with parking, etc.

I'd just leave my car at work and walk over to the airport.

When we lived in Carlsbad, we used to fly a "puddle jumper" to LAX as the first leg of our Hawaii vacations.  Parking was free at the Carlsbad airport and the cost of the flight was less than the cost of parking at LAX.  I don't remember the actual dollar amounts and I believe the rate was reduced because we were continuing on a United Flight and the shuttle flight was United Express.  It was great to land so close to home and not parking at LAX was a a nice benefit too.  Maybe a similar situation will exist for Santa Rosa. ???

Vic, it takes me no less than 2 hours to get to the city if I don't hit Petaluma bridge by 5:30 am on a weekday.
Like D said, for a connector flight this is great.
Between commute time and gas, $7 bridge toll, and SFO parking, not so bad.
Shit, I'd pay half that everyday if they send my tools along, just to not sit in traffic.
I hate working in the city.

Lucky bum!  :smt044

It's really stupid how bad the traffic is up this way.
I know on the outside how ridiculous it seems to have a commuter flight that direction, but if more people did that plus the new train, maybe, just maybe the freeway would be tolerable.

Remind me of the elderly planning at a retirement home, lol.
Someone would pay to fly to sfo... just not me I'd rather drive, or sneak onto Vicks chaffeur service.

For me, it's 15 minutes to Santa Cruz, at least when highway 17 is open...

And I work next  to Outdoor Pro Shop

Then I think the trip to China will need to be rescheduled to allow the vitally important NCKA Express deliveries to Simply Fishing!  :smt003
