First off it's not a kayak. As one who has always wanted to put the kayak back in kayak fishing, this goes against my core beliefs. With that said the market has spoken as shown, by the wild success of the Hobie Pro Angler models, that they want bigger badder more stable pedal boats. This is Natives answer for that. Happy to see someone stepping up to give Hobie some competition in this category. What do you guys think?

13.5' and 42" wide. Weight is going to be 120+ pounds. They have not released a final weight but it's going to be heavy.

13.5 feet long, 42 inches wide, something like 150lbs.  Final weight will be available soon after they get into production. They're expecting them to start shipping in March.  This is really a truck bed/trailer boat.  There's also some top secret scuttlebutt that pedal, paddle, and trolling motor options are not going to be the only propulsion option on this yakrotomolded boat....

What's the financial hit?
Bare hull only
$2489
With propel Drive
$3249
Add a trolling motor mount
$90

Comes stock with groove track everywhere, tons of internal storage, and rod storage tubes.  comfortable seat.  Supposedly very maneuverable for its size.  Not gonna be the fastest boat on the water with its propel driven option, but add a 40-50lb thrust trolling motor you essentially got yourself a rotomolded bass boat.

Secret is out.  It will be propelled by a series of labradors pulling it from the front while a stick is dangled in front of them.

42'' wide????????
Just thinking about it I think I pulled a groin muscle.
I love fishing with my feet hanging over on each side of the kayak.
Either this is not a kayak or the very definition of the word kayak needs to be revisited.
If not, I guess these 'kayaks' could hit the market soon too.

First off it's not a kayak.

Native doesn't call it a kayak either. I'd say its a rotomolded bass boat.  And judging from the reception so far online, this is just another method for folks to get out and fish, and they're loving it.

They intended this to be a bass kayak from everyone I spoke with back home. At that weight, plus width , trying to get it out past breakers would be a nightmare. Freshwater lake however, this would be a monster for sight casting and bass tourneys. Just my opinion though.

The way I look at it someone was going to come after he Hobie PA market after the amount of success that boat had. It's definitely not going to be the boat for everyone, but I know a lot of the bass fishing guys are pretty fired up to play with it.

So true, there is a boat/layak for everyone. As long as it gets people on the water.
