access/launching around Collinsville?

Hi all,

Do y'all know if there are any issues with access/launching around Collinsville in the Delta? I'm planning a fishing trip with my 4 yo and dad, and am looking for a place that has pretty straightforward access for launching and shore fishing. I've done some searches here and the info on Collinsville seems mixed:

I'm especially curious about the north end of the long narrow "bay" around Collinsville; it seems to have some good abandoned dock pilings and structure. I've not been able to explore this area yet, but hope to check it out on the ground/water sometime this year! Any local info would be great.

Don't know if you can launch as a lot of the area is private property around collinsville. Also the current is ripping in that area due to the out flows from the dams up above. I'd look for somewhere else to go especially with a child.

The port of Sacramento is an easy launch and should be calm water. I don't know how the fishing is right now.

The last time I was up there it was just to look for shore fishing access and or a kayak launch.

Really questionable on both, There is some access right as the road tees into the levee but the tules would make it really hard to fish, as for that "bay" it looks like there is some unrestricted access (a trail) but I never walked it.

IMHO, The whole area screamed Visitors Unwelcome when I was out there,

Closest i know of is shermans boat ramp and has shore fishing. Its about a 4 or 5 mile paddle there though

This is all great info, thanks! I think we'll steer clear of Collinsville for now, and take a look at more familiar waters a little closer to home this time. Maybe Berryessa or the Port of Sac. We'll get around to exploring the Delta another time!
