clear lake unhinged 3/28

   Perfect conditions today and I expected to see the lake swarming with bass boats prepping for the weekend. I stayed down in the underrated southend and only saw 3 or 4 and only 2 of those were basscar types. By 1700 I had the whole lake to myself. I spent the day slinging every flavor of senko I had.  The biggest weighed was 6.9 but after that fish I lost my scale and that was fairly early. It was steady all day then broke loose about 1800 until just after dark then it stopped.
My struggles with the cameramount angle/timing continue but atleast you can see the fish.
These are good times.

CHUB and I are headed up for Monday, Tues, Wednesday of next week. Not sure if we will leave Sunday night or Monday morning. Will probably camp somewhere up there, any suggestions?
I hear there is a big tourney this Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun. Think it will disturb the bite at all?
Getting psyched to hit it again!

 The state park is probably the best camping/fishing combo. I work until tuesday morning then Ill try to hook up with you guys.
I dont know if the lake is going to get pounded any harder than it usually does.
just more of a circus.

The State park up there is a very nice place. Cleanest bathrooms/showers you will ever find in a campground

Your kill'in me. You guys are setting the mark high. But who's going to break the double digit mark? I got a feeling it could happen soon. Your lucky you have a first class bass lake in your back yard. Looks like a couple of us will be up about the 2nd or 3rd week of April. Nice catch H20. See ya.

I'll be there tuesday, mebbe' camping at CL State Park. I second the bath and shower conditions, clean! Take a tent as the mosquitos might be bad. Might still be too cool though.

Terry, I noticed "the rod"....is that a Lamiglass  -without the cork on the handle - so it's super sensitive  Saw one at Fisherman's Warehouse and I was drooling over it

that is actually a "rogue" rod.  It made me realize that I had been missing alot of fish that I wasnt able to detect using the standard cork handle. I am planning on converting completely to graphite handled rods but it will take some time.

Hows the weather been up there. I here Its cold at night. What time of the day are you catching the fish? I noticed this fish came in the evening. Thinking of going there tonight and canceling my trip to the delta Its a long haul for me so I want to make sure the weather is OK. I am hearing the pros complaining that its slowed because of the cold snap.
Did you notice the surface temp? And hows the wind been? Thanks.

 Monday and tuesday were cold and windy and I chose to stay home for domestic duties. Yesterday and today were/are perfect. Im not sure whether it was the cold or the wind or what, but something cleared up the water. Best visibility ive seen all year on the southend, atleast 6'.
 The temp on my FF showed mid 50s but you have to take into account that I fish in a dark colored boat and it heats up, alot, and I imagine it affects the temp reading.  I didnt fish in the morning so I cant report, but I got on the water at 1300 and immediatly started taking fish. It wasnt until after 5 that they went berzerko. This was my best day ever on C-lake. Easily more than 30 fish and atleast 8 over 5 pounds. You also need to realize that I took a break for a awhile at the B&G for a french dip/swiss and a few adult beverages and still caught so many fish that my thumb was shredded.
Im working alot until the middle of next week, but I hope someone can get up here and enjoy the prespawn madness while it lasts.
one more thing in reguards to the pros complaints. Im am in no way a bass expert but I notice that when they are in pre-tourney mode they are fishing very fast. Yesterday required a slow presentation, with a second day of warm weather they may have more success on the rip or swimbaits.
Just my opinion.
