Hi all,
I'm looking for some knowledge regarding fishing boat rental out of HMB, SC, or Monterey.  My father lives in TX and loves bass fishing, and I wanted to get him offshore next time he visits to hit up some RF and LC.  I want something a little nicer than a skiff (he's old and 6'5", 320 lbs), but not a luxury yacht.  Also, I want the privacy and freedom a charter wouldn't provide.  Just something to get us to the reef and back.  Any information would be great.  Happy NY to u all.

Six pack charter, bout $200 a pop is gonna be your best bet, if not the only bet, for what you want to do. Outside of the skiff rentals in SC and Cap there's not much in the way of renting a boat to fish the ocean.

If pops really digs bass fishing you can rent boats out of sugar barge resort on the delta.  Last I seen they had 17' Triumphs, really beamy, a lot bigger than most 17' boats.

Like ex-kayaker said, a 6-pack (or other private charter) is going to be your best bet if you're not feeling the SC/Capitola skiffs (although they are very stable and a real good time). I'm sure the captain would be happy to keep a low profile if you tell him your looking for privacy/freedom/whatever.
