I think it was a couple of months ago I saw some poor guy get a bunch or grief because he wanted some advice on salmon fishing "but didn't have a trolling motor yet." I logged on tonight and the attached ad was at the top of the page. You got to admit that could cause new participants to the site a bit of cognitive dissonance if they broach that territory. I probably should have noticed this before but with my new prescription for edibles some stuff gets by me.

It is a topic that will need to be considered by the people that love this sport. Hopefully it will be a discussion that remains friendly. Rockfish season is about to close, so we might have to get odds on that bet.  :smt044

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

Just saw a pretty good discussion of this topic at NWKA. It was actually pretty civil.  We'll see what the winter brings us.

Cognitive dissonance and incongruent behavior would be my pet peeves if I was a centerfold.  :smt044

NCKA has its own, unique definition of "civil"...

Only because assholes are overly represented here. You guys need to cheer for a better football team. NWKA is all square in Seahawks country. There are less assholes in NWKA. Coincidence?  I think not.

Personally, I kind of like the NCKA no-holds-barred approach. The only downside I can see is that new people often get offended and leave before they've had time to get fully desensitized...

The guy mistakened a trolling motor with the fishing term trolling.  :smt044

Please don't be this guy :smt044

Ya, that thread had more to do with him wanting the magic fish whistle on a silver platter than him thinking he needed a trolling motor.

I have never heard a fish whistle.  Heard them croak. Andy had one Shizzle with a Whizzle.
