Just curious how many of you aI and ti owners really go somwere
On your boat
And what you think is a long ways
Or do multi day trips and how far out you have ventured as well as how often
glade you made it

I have an AI, average 10-15 miles on a day trip.
I did a multiday overnight camping trip to Catalina island this year.
TI might be able to cover longer distant....I guess.

Is trolling under sail power a viable technique and do you find it to be a usable method?

"Is trolling under sail power viable? "

Can't speak for AI's, but trolling from a reg'lar sailboat is very viable.

We drag what we usually refer to as a "meat line" off a stern chock or heavy pole.  Typically a feather, or big kastmaster. We found broken back rapalas were killer in Baja.  If no pole, we tie 3' of surgical tubing into the line as a shock absorber.
Boat is generally moving between 3-6 knots. Dorado, Ahi, mackeral, Sierra, barracuda al readily attack it.. occasionally even a rock fish when we slow down to make a tack...

I am not sure if you ask me...since I know the answer I should response anyway.  :smt006
I caught 2 salmons under sail power last season. It's doable, however I put a circus show when it's hooked up.
The second your rod is pumping, all your attention to rod and net. leaving boat run wild...As an AI owner you know when you don't control the rudder under sail, you know what can happen. I leave that to you to imagine...

Later on I learn to reef in the sail while pedal to keep constant pressure on the fish BEFORE picking up the rod. This method works much better.

That sounds like the type of complication I would expect. The take home message I suppose is to learn to operate your vessel efficiently and trolling is feasible. Thanks for the input.  Maybe one day Ill pull the trigger and get one of these.
