Mountain biking by the dam today this was what I saw...

Now how am I going to launch my kayak there? Crazy amount of wood coming down from above.

That is by far the worst  have ever seen it. Holy #$%^.

A mess like that is no joke in a kayak.
I was eyeballing a similar jam like that one time. Looks like a good holding place for fish.
Then out of nowhere some more debris (logs) came into the mix. It literally would have crushed the kayak.
If I had been in that I would have been toast.

There was before, and I still like that cooler.

More on the way.... This thursday looks to be a gully washer event!!!

Hopefully it washes out the dam and floods the valley, sending people running for their lives and coolers.

Drains into folsom. Boaters will be going SLOW this summer

Do they do anything with the wood or does just work it's way down stream?

They have to come skim it and remove the debris. It will clog the discharge intake.

Hopefully they'll find a campground and dump it nearby to be used up as firewood.

Blasting log jams is crazy fun! Havent done it in CA, but did several in idaho and several every year in montana.

it's a coffer dam i think. no power generation. Built to allow auburn dam footings to be built. Also to catch silt. if i remember correctly it goes over dam to river below... then on to folsom...
