Parked my truck at work in San Ramon and headed out in a work vehicle at 7:15 this morning. Pulled back in at 6 pm to no truck in the lot.... :smt013 Yup it was stolen.  PD was there in minutes and took a report. I gave the officer a digital photo of the truck and he attached it to the report that he sent out to all the Bay Area Agencies.  I was just so pissed off :smt013 :smt013
:
so at 8:20 pm CHP calls. They recovered my truck. it was still running, they are searching the area for the thief.  The only damage per the tow company is a punched ignition. it is otherwise intact and drivable  :smt004 :smt004 :smt006.  I will go get it back tomorrow as they were about to close the impound yard for the night.

I think my face is about to break from the shit eating grin I'm wearing.  No way I could afford to replace that truck

One of the guys at my office has a 90's model Honda Civic that gets stolen every few months. It gets left in either San Jose or Oakland each time. He says it's always empty with lots of garbage in it, but otherwise fine.

I'd figure out a way to rig it so that any thief would pay dearly for stealing it.

Nothing pisses me off worse than something I've worked hard and earned to get ripped off by some lazy dirt bag, so I can imagine how you felt when you realized your truck had been stolen.  So glad to hear it was recovered and in good shape.

I didn't think new(er) trucks or cars could be stolen with just a punched ignition.  I know my 2006 Dodge truck will start with a key copy, but, without the security fob built into the key, it won't run more than a couple seconds.

YouTube is great for fixing things....OR  :smt013  It's nice you got the truck back in one piece without someone wrecking into someone else or worse ..hurting someone.

Awesome on the speedy recovery!

Depending on your insurance, budget and how bad the damage is, when my wife's car was stolen, I found the cheapest/ fastest way to get the locks replaced was at the locksmith in the parking lot of the Pick n Pull in Oakland. Cash only, feels shady, but man, they were fast and did good work that I couldn't get the mobile locksmith to touch.

Also, if you've got AAA, they reimburse for locksmith fees. I think $50 for standard membership, $100 for Plus or higher.

Ive used my truck antenna to pop the door open on my truck.  Ford are notorious for easy access especially explorers.

Got it back tonight

Good as before it was stolen. I did add an antitheft system, old guy version. It self activates when I turn the key off. I don't have to remember to do anything.  I do have to do something to get it to restart which will hopefully be enough to slow down or stop a thief
