I got off work early today and decided to go bassin. I got to the launch and the wind was howling. I almost bagged it but, I figured since I drove all the way up, I may as well go for it. When I got on the water, the whitecaps were bustin over my bow. Fishing the the windy conditions was pretty much impossible. So, I thought I'd troll a shad rap and do a little recon. Paddled/trolled for about 3 1/2 hours before I got a hit. Nice little take down from a little trout. A little while later, I got another hit... boated a little smallie. I made a U-Turn to go back over the structure it came out of and bam... another smallie. No more takers so I paddled on. 10 minutes later... BAM... pulled up a nice fat smallie. Then, I got another one that was even bigger. Things slowed down again after that. I managed one more smallie as I made my way back to the launch. All in all, I caught one trout and 5 SMB all of which were C&R'd. All my hits came after 6pm too. This place looks really fishy... too bad the water level is so low...

Tight lines,

Freddie

I like that intimate pose with the smallie.  I guess that's what you have to do when no one's around to take your pic. :smt003

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Thanks for the ups guys...

Tote-

That's exactly where Avery is... Don't know of an area called the Pit though. There's a launch off of Rattlesnake. I need to explore more of that area. I have a feeling more fish and bigger fish will be pulled out of there.

Alien-

I pulled shad raps, pinns minnows, cast masters and broken backs... shad raps and broken backs were the ticket.

I'll be fishing this area more in the next couple of weeks. Still looking for my trophy bucket mouth.

Freddie

Are there multiple Rattlesnake Bar roads? The one I'm familiar with runs from Pilot Hill down into Folsom Lake. And there's a Rattlesnake Bar launch on the lake as well, but on the other side of the North Fork. I'm not familiar with any ponds in the area though.

Regards,
Scott
