Wet Weather Protocol

Inspection stations will remain open regardless of weather conditions.  The only conditions under which an inspection station would close, is during weather that presents a serious risk of injury to the inspector, or if the governing water agency closes the body of water to launching.  In the case of a body of water being closed, watercraft inspectors shall remain on duty until the normal close of inspection station or all watercraft are off the water and banded.

Current Rainy Day Protocol Procedures

Rainy Day Inspection is to occur during the event of rain at the time of inspection.

Boaters
The criteria the inspection staff will use in determining rain water versus possible mussel infested water will be the following and not limited to:

Failing Criteria
  - Water coming out of intakes of motor
  - Water in motor area
  - Water and wet gear/accessories in storage compartments sealed from elements
  - Any area that is closed off from the elements that contains water
  - Dirty water in vessel

Kayaks/Float Tubes/Inflatables/Paddleboards/etc.

I've never seen what banding a boat looks like so that you can bypass inspection. Since I'm likely to spend a lot of time at SC during winter and now have a trailer I can keep the kayak on, has anyone tried or can think of a way to get the kayak banded if I plan to make multiple trips and don't want to have to deal with it every time?

Problem I see here is that even a "sealed" hatch on a kayak is a relative term. If I am traveling down the road at 65 mph in pouring down rain I will get water in my kayak. The hatches are sealed, but not considered water tight. The what will they say?

I think it could be done if asked.  zip tie the handle to some sort of rigid connector on the trailer?

Now this is how it done! Notice Rob doesn't incriminate himself online, inspite of the fact that he has a massive lead foot and the truth of the matter is the kayaks hatches are wet because he was driving 95mph in the pouring rain towing a trailer on eight bald tires.  :smt001

His truck wont go 95! He has to get as fast as he can, gives him more time to restart it before he stops! By the way, thats the only way he can stop  :smt044
Wet gear includes the lap and pants of his passenger lol.

So SC banded my kayak and it was "special". I can take the kayak on and off without having to break the band. I even suggested a place they can do it with only one band and I'd have to break it to remove the kayak. Alas.
