My name is Al and just want to introduce myself.
I have been interested in ocean kayak fishing for a long time and think 2017 will be the year.
I live in San Anselmo and will be fishing both north and south.
Looking forward to joining the NorCal Anglers Group!

Hey brah........I grew up in San Anselmo and fish my face off locally.  Maybe we'll fish someday, I store my kayak on my van or on Butterfield occasionally. :smt006

I said 2017 is the year and here we are!
Looking to purchase a Jackson Kraken 15.5 in the next few months and start fishing.  I'll be fishing Central to Northern CA, mostly SF, SP Bays but some ocean for crab, salmon, rockfish, etc.
Went to the ISE in Sacramento and was impressed with this model.  Any input on this yak?
What do you all recommend:  dry suit, wet suit, combo, etc?
Anybody in Marin that would like to provide more personal instruction would be welcome.
Thanks for your input!

Lots of info on gear-related topics if you search the site... I'd recommend a drysuit if you can afford it. Be sure to get all of the basic safety gear...

hey al, welcome to NCKA, the kraken is a great open water boat, it is on the heavier side,so loading on to larger vehicles can be a bit cumbersome, but once in the water it is a dream to paddle, plenty of storage space, and if you are a live bait fisherman, the bait pump scupper is a great feature. if you have not paddled it yet and would like to, you are more than welcome to try mine, i am in sonoma county. also make sure you paddle or even pedal other boats also to make sure you find/get the boat that is the best fit for you, cameron
