I am thinking of either buying the ugly stik catfish or tiger rod for rockfish. Any experience with either of these?
catfish - 7ft 15-30lb line  1/2-3oz lures medium heavy
tiger - any of the lighter ones

I bought a Shimano Trevala TVC-70ML 7' rod for about $130 a couple of years ago and have really like it for NORCAL ocean fishing. The rod is so light and strong, you can fish with it all day with a baitcasting reel and not get tired arms!!!
I like the size of the 7' rod and it gives you more length to maneuver around the bow of the kayak in cast the fish swims to the other side of the boat.

I use the Ugly Stik for drifting or trolling bait and the Shimano Trevala for jigging. Recently switched from the MH to the Medium Trevala. this link is for the medium one piece Ugly Stik Tiger that I use.
