Did it not make you wonder how someone would be willing to pay full price no questions asked if they never seen or drove the vehicle ?  :smt002

I guess everyone has to get burned onetime  but the only thing I ever fell for on craigslist was season Cal Bear tickets. Didn't know they could reprint and therefore sell new looking tickets that had been cancelled. Make sure to verify the tickets with Cal before buying from now on!

Wow, a counterfeit pen!  Took $1200 cash for a yak and sweated that the bills were real.  Took copy of his DL and photoed the LP and vehicle, but still sweated it out.  Turned out fine but, the pen would have made me feel better.

Two weeks ago I bought a vehicle. I gave him $2k cash up front on a handshake (no written receipt) and the rest ($7K) when the vehicle was smogged (the following weekend).
Best deal I ever made.

Always need to assume its not a legit until you meet in person and you have cash in hand.  Always meet up in public places with people around!

One thing I don't understand is, how does depositing a fake check allows the other party to "raid" your account?   That part is probably not true.  The whole scam is to overpay with fake funds, then have you send X amount of real money to someone else, while giving you a nice cut for your troubles.   :smt044

Craigslist has a page that discusses the typical scams and what not to do i.e. payment types not to accept...etc.

Most scams have misspellings in the text/email and poorly written.  They aim for higher priced items.  Ask to speak by phone.  If it sounds fishy and too good to be true it most likely is.  People on Craigslist want to pay less than asking price not more.

If your unsure always research (Google it)!

True. The only times I've seen legit CL buyer behavior contrary to this has been when I've underpriced something by a large amount and someone wants to jump on the deal while muscling out other buyers. Not common, but it could happen.
