Informed my boss that I will likely have a fever on Friday, so I'm going to Clear lake to get some therapy. Launching from the State park and fishing between there and Shag Rock. Fishing reports sound prettty good, despite cloudy brown water.
The drop shot is my go-to rig of choice, followed by jigs, but having never fished Clear lake before (in November!), maybe a NCKA'er could suggest some other bass  lures which might be productive this weekend? I've got jigs galore for crappie, and mackerel for channel cats, but primarily want to get some bass.
Company is always appreciated too. Cheers!

Big swimbaits in grass will attract giants, but it's a slow and patient proposition.

Chatterbaits in intermediate zones between shallow and deep will get hammered this time of year.

LV500, bladed jigs, spinnerbaits, swim jigs, squarebill cranks, and swimbaits are all working well right now.  There are also guys out on deeper rock piles throwing A rigs, deep cranks like the Strike King 6XD/10XD, and football head jigs that are putting together some nice bags.  The trick this time of year is to find the bait.  The cooler weather has the bait balled up pretty good and the bass are following them.  If you're not seeing bait on the surface just keep moving till you find it.  Then fish the bait balls with your choice of lure and you'll catch bass.

I've been doing very well on a 4 inch paddletail swimbait on a 1/4 oz jighead.

That's great advice, many thanks!! I've stopped by the store and collected an arsenal, so if I'm not getting hits I will always have something else to try.

If all else fails, wacky rig a senko or my favorite a Zman ZinkerZ at docks, or shallows and you should get action.  Quality may not be great but quantity is there.

I was there yesterday fishing in the rattlesnake arm.  My advice to you is concentrate on steep banks. There are shad in the top water column, a lot of them.   A reaction bait worked at the right depth could work at any time of day and a slow jig style bait could entice a big fat pig already glutton with bait.

Well, I launched at the State park and had a day and a half on the water and really enjoyed fishing the perimeter of Soda Bay. I found a few small bass but nothing even close to picture worthy. I didn't see any other fisherman catching much, and there was a lot of them! Fishing pressure like nothing I've experienced before. A slow kayak is no match for the many PBers when trying to queue up for a small patch of shoreline to fish.
I'm aware of the other marinas I could check out, but I'd really like to hear of other launches and fishing spots preferrred by kayakers. Rattlesnake or Redbud arms? I'm definitely going to make a few trips there this winter.

There's a launch down by the Keys in the back of Rattlesnake and it's got decent facilities.  I launch out of there a fair amount and don't have any complaints.  I know there are fish being caught down around Rattlesnake now but I generally fish there more in the spring time.  Redbud has some awesome areas with deeper water around.  I do fish that area in the winter time.  State Park is good this time of year as well but it's not often that you'll find me beating the banks once the weather starts cooling off.  This is the time of year where deeper water techniques start becoming more the norm.  Offshore rock piles, creek channel ledges, and deeper water grass beds that are dying off become my go to areas to find better fish.

This time of year my Ranger gets the nod over the Drifter, but if I was yakin it Shag Rock is a short paddle from Brattos Marina. (I think it's a free launch for yaks)

Henderson point from any of the soda bay launches is not a bad paddle.

Please remember that these places can get windy at a drop of a hat this time of year.

I agree with ClearlakeKid. Brattos marina is free. Shag rock is right around the corner and there is great fishing there...when they are biting...LOL

The area around Braitos is always good fishing.  Some days it's size other days it numbers.  When the wind blows u can fish the sheltered side of the peninsula too.
