This is a dumb question; but where is the link for entering a fish in the AOTY????

Tote,

It's not currently running.. but normally it can be found here

http://www.ncka.org:81

Bill wants to revamp the AOTY application and I told him I'd help, but we've only just begun.  I've been catching up on the code and Bill has been a bit under the weather.  It will be up and running well before rockfish season kicks into full swing.  Until then keep taking those photos of your big fish.

Actually, while you brought it up, this might be a good time to ask everyone what they'd like to see in the application.  Here are the ideas I'm working with right now...

1.) You should be able to enter as many fish as you want, but the application will only count the largest fish of your's from each species.
2.)  As with last year, you should be able to add/edit/delete any of your fish at any time.
3.)  You should be able to view all of everybody else's fish.
4.)  You should be able to view all of any particular species of fish.
5.)  There should be a leader board like last year, but maybe with a nicer layout.
7.)  You should be able to add notes (location caught, lure used, etc..) along with the photos and length of each fish submitted.
8.)  Bill should have an Admin page that allows him to remove questionable fish (i.e. wrong species, caught out of season, bad measurement, etc..) from the running, but I'm not 100% sure how this might work.
9.)  One option that I'm playing around with is that the AOTY fish log could be open to everybody on the NCKA board, but it should only count fish for points if you've paid Bill for the AOTY tournament already and even then it should only count those caught after the date you paid.

If anyone has any other ideas please post them here.

More ideas of my own..

10.) A page for showing all of the newest fish entries.
11.) An all time record page regardless of AOTY entry or not.  Users would be allowed to enter fish from previous years for this portion.
12.) More species (even those not part of AOTY like sharks, surf perch, catfish, etc..).

Thanks again to Brian for helping out this year. I should have the current version up this weekend.

Just a little style thing I'm working on... fish icons.  About half of these are copyright free government pics, the rest are questionable.  I'll need to rework them a bit until they become my own or find new ones.

I'm almost done helping Bill with the new AOTY2007 site.  Here are some screenshots and I'm hoping we can get this up real soon.

I haven't really figured out how to do text between attachments and the gallery is still down so I'm commenting here.

Figure 1.   This is the home page and is basically a copy of the rules.

Figure 2.   This is the leaderboard.  It lists the top anglers that have paid into AOTY2007 and adds up there biggest fish for each species.  The fish icons and points let you know how the total score was calculated.

Figure 3. Listing your fish.  This is where you add, edit, and remove your fish entries.

Figure 4 & 5.   This is the page that lists the top 3 entries for each species.

Other little things...
You can click on a fish icon in the banner and view all the entries for that species.
You can usually click on a person's username and get a list of all their entries.
You can usually click on the little magnifying glass to view the full fish catch entry.
The app has most of the rules built in.  For example, only fish caught after you've paid (except for fish caught Jan 1-9, 2007) are counted towards AOTY points.  You can enter as many fish per species as you want, but only the largest single eligible fish from each species is counted towards your points.

Bill is going to have to go through his PayPal receipts and mark down in the database when you paid your AOTY2007 fee.  Because of this, there might be a slight lag between when you sign up and when your points start getting counted.

Any comments or suggestions at this point would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and the fish you see listed for Erik (KzReelRods) is a fake entry that I'm using for now.  When this is set up it will start with a blank dataset.
