Uni spines

Just removed a uni spine from my knee I got diving on Sept. 23rd.

I thought there was one in there but wasn't sure since I had already removed a couple from my knee that weekend.

Once I had to go to the doctor to have one removed from my palm.
That was 10 years ago and still have the uni dye mark to this day.

I guess having uni spines buried in my skin is a good thing. Since it means I was doing something that I love 

A new method for getting a tattoo?

Yeah, the shit we do to ourselves just to have alittle fun. I never thought about divers getting stuck with those things but I noticed my swimbaits would often have the spines stuck in them. Huh, learned something new today.

Whoa, that's a long time! No infection, pain or inflammation from that?

I had a piece of urchin spine pop out of my knee about 20 years after I was injured. I was surprised it stayed in there that long.

It was irritating me and it was a little swollen but I thought it might have been from the other ones I pulled out.
I finally felt the damn thing this evening and picked at the wound till it came out

That's exactly what it looks like a brownish purple dot tat 

In my 20's I had lots of them from my hands to my elbows.

More recently I've had some long-term cases.  I have a few bumps on my left palm that are just now mellowing out and are from last November 27th!  It was a spiny day.

Most recently I have a little knot on the "dorsal" of my right hand, as my dermatologist described it for her assistant two weeks ago.  It's from a dive in August with Ron.  Since there's only one and it doesn't hurt, I'm pretty fond of it. 

It's hard to capture in a photo, so be sure to ask to push on it with your finger tip if we meet up within the next few months!
