I have been out in the delta twice now. No luck. What bait is best to use or lures?  Any technique?  I normally only salt water fished in Florida so just dropped a line in the ocean and waited. Doesn't seem to work for me out here.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
They is always a bigger fish to catch.

I've only caught a striper and some bluegills so far, but there are definitely bass, sturgeon and even salmon to be had. You'll have to wait for others on that info though.

Welcome to the forum.

I fish Sherman lake In November and December with drifted live bait and jigged artificials. Great striper action and as previously mentioned salmon (I think mostly September and October) and sturgeon too Although I'm not sure about the timing for sturgeon.

If you want to check it out later this month, I launch on the north side of the Antioch bridge off Sherman island road. There is a launch facility and parking lot with a short paddle to some good areas to fish
Here is an old report with a bit more detail

Best time of the year to be out there, use top water lures, spooks, poppers, swimbaits.look for the boils or try and locate them on your ff
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I fished Sherman today in the channel and near the little blue buoy,  caught two little striped bass 12 and 10". Had a nice hook up but lost near the yak. Going back tomorrow.
They is always a bigger fish to catch.

I'd also check out the Big Break area as well.  If you are targeting stripers, I like an outgoing tide fishing where the water is leaving Big Break and flowing into the main river.

Top water is my favorite. Love watching a striper smack the lure on top.
