I'm driving and supporting my wife as she runs her first marathon in South Lake Tahoe this Sunday.
I'm bringing my kayak with me and will try to fish any free time that I have.  Does anyone have recommendations on where to go or wants to meet up?

Just looking on Google Maps, looks I have a few choices.
1) Ice House Reservoir
2) Caples Lake
3) Echo Lakes?
4) Fallen Leaf

Any intel is greatly appreciated.  I'm not limited to the lakes above.  Willing to hike and fish creeks/rivers too.

Thanks,

Kevin

I am not familiar with the area too much but last weekend I was up there and did some bank fishing at Baron Lake. There are some decent sized rainbows in there and it's a beautiful setting. It's off highway 50 just as your coming/going into town. Buddy and I only fished for maybe an hour but pulled out two rainbows, throwing gold kastmasters with a rainbow trout pattern.

Took the boat to Ice House a couple of weeks ago and not even a strike in a couple hours of downrigging . Usually 30+ fish on other trips using  the same techniques , only keeping a couple for breakfast . Camping trip there two weeks ago , no boat , same results ! Only a couple of boats fishing both trips and only saw one fish caught from shore by the North Wind campgrounds . I think they need to stock the lake , saw little on my depth finder and deep , usually a foot or two of the bottom , surface temp was 60 degrees . Sorry for the negative report .

Thanks for any and all reports/tips.  I have never fished up here before and don't where to even begin.  Some of the streams and creek look especially fishy but I need to check the local regs before I drop a line.

Woke up early this morning and walked the south shore of Lake Tahoe.  Beautiful clear calm water but that was it.
Going to try to stop at a flyfishing outfitter and see if they can give me any leads.
If not, then I'm going to give Echo Lakes a try tomorrow AM.
