True except removing a serial number or identifying information that could help locate the owner is also a crime. 

It also helps to know the owner of the dairy (Producer's) personally and have their permission to use their creates.

when i was at my previous job, we would get hundreds of them per week, and it would be a chore to get the vendor to come retrieve them.  they took up so much space.  Producers was one of them with their 6x1gallon green crates that seem to be very useful around the house.

That's a little misleading.  Here is a dude with a long rap sheet that was getting harassed by the cops who arrested him on general principle.  Then they realized they could get the milk crate rap to stick.  It was an afterthought.

All you half way crooks are fine.  Just don't hang out with anyone more unsavory than yourself, lest you get caught up as collateral damage in someone else's battle with The Man.
