Some discouraging news on the domoic acid front, Fall 2016

This does not bode particularly well for the upcoming crab season, at least from Mendocino north.

First, Oregon has closed razor clams and mussels along its entire coast due to domoic acid.  It had been closed from Florence south until this news yesterday.

Crabs in California have been tested all summer and one of six tested at elevated levels at both Crescent City and Usal this month.  A single crab over the limit prevented us from reopening for several weeks up this way last year and I'd expect no tolerance for a single crab over this year as we go along.

Frustrating.

Thanks for sharing.  I already miss eating fresh crab meat.  Kelp forests disappearing and now this. 

Damn crabs.....
