Hi guys,
as a avid Bass Angler and soon to be Peddle Fishing Kayak owner, I wanted to discover the possibilities of one of the world's bass fishing Mekkas. THE CALIFORNIA DELTA.

Last week I decided to take the trip from Sausalito in order to find some spots where I could start my as soon as I get my Peddle Kayak. For now I would be using a *Sevylor Colorado HF Angler Inflatable Kayak*.

Damn, that area is huge and confusing.

So, I was wondering if I could get some guide lines and suggestions from the community on this.

Here are some points that would be important to me:

* Save parking area (I heard stories that there are some crazy people in the area...)

* Easy launch space (for the size of a Hobie PA14 type of yak)

* I would prefer some narrower channels with lots of vegetation to the sides

* Protection from strong wind

* No to little boat traffic

* Good bass fishing :)

I am not asking for your Honey Whole, but I would really appreciate some help, since I am a bit lost.

Thanks guys and gals!

-Seb.

Check out "The Meadows" ( Not a city or bar, just an area near the TV Towers and Cross-Delta gates near Walnut Grove/Locke area. There is a county road running E-W across the top of it, but the entry was near the gates on the south end.)  It used to have a dirt launch ramp. Very pretty area. Big trees, vines, narrow waterways.  Have no idea whether it's fishy, and it's been way to long since I've been there to know what the parking's like.

I don't know the area really well but I'm trying to learn it better myself also. I'm not sure a place meeting all the criteria exists in the delta. A remote out of the way spot is not likely to have safe parking. It's best to never leave valuables in your car. With a bigger kayak like a pa14 you may be somewhat limited to launching areas that also facilitate boat hence more boat traffic also. I don't fish the delta much but started duck hunting there and found that it is easiest to take my small beater yak and kick it down the levee. Can save me a long paddle from a more traditional launch site. Liberty island is a cool area with lots of back channels to explore but here's the deal. Honor system dictates that you pick up a bag of trash every time you Go there to help clean it up a bit. Using search function on here should get you some more info on that place.

Ill second liberty island as a launch you can launch onto the flooded part at high tide cross the bridge and pass the gaurd rail and go at high tide launch is on the left youll need at least 3 ft tide to go in and out there traildad has the route posted. Montezuma slough has a decent launch too and ive never had an issue there with my car when i was on shore and people use the launch all the time. It is busier than liberty island though. If you wanna try out liberty one weekend hit me up im usually open and can show you the area.

Coming from Sausalito anywhere will be scary to park.id hit up discovery bay,speed limit and you can chase stripers,lmb,panfish,cats.also rich neighborhood so you'll feel safer.im usually in Sausalito on Tues weds in the big semi making delivery stop and say hi and chat a little  (Asian guy)
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I'd argue that since you are in the north bay (barely, I don't think any of us will claim Sausalito as being the north bay lol) you should check out clear lake as a great bass fishery. It's huge, has big fish, and has some nice areas to launch.

There's a fishing dock here and a ramp that leads to the water, fish around here and the bridge and you have the chance to catch stripers, shad, catfish, salmon, etc etc

Search the term Bass in the tournament section of the forum. You might get some useful info based on where the tournaments are held. I'm assuming the tournaments are held at places with good Bass fishing. Also searching the reports might help as well.
