Montezuma's Revenge

The Sturgeon Gods were on their fins today, they knew Tarpon 120, ChuckE, Frankfishing and Me(Danglin) had brought their "A" Game and meant business. They kicked up the wind and forced us to change our game plan and seek calm sloughs. We soon spread out in search of a bite that was not happening.

We all put on a few miles with swells building towards the afternoon. Tarpon 120 hooked up "Drifting" pileworms on "Light tackle" with a "Spinning rod"..STUD ...Sadly, Mr dino came up to the yak, gave him a wink , and decided not to play anymore .

About 1600 hrs we were able to ride waves towards the launch. As we approached the launch area with too much bait still on our yaks, we took a page from Tarpon 120 and started drifting pileworms.

ChuckE and Frankfishing packed it up soon after this and I decided to hang out, didn't have anywhere else to be, and we all started noticing that the shore area was starting to fill with people as if the night shift was coming on.

The wind died down, I anchored up and began to realized again, just how beautiful it is out there..


"Tap"....Huh?.."Tap"...Huh?...  What the #%@$%...OH!!!! #$%&@!!! 

SWING!!!!!!...BENDO!!!!! ......Montezuma Sleigh Ride!!!!

Took about half hour or so letting him pull me around with the sun going down,

WE had a slow day, with slow to none action, that being said, that slough is loaded!!!!!

Pile up a big Ball of Pile Worms on one hook and grass shrimp on another and....

GO GET YOUR DINO!!!!!

I picked my fish up 1000 yards north of the launch, lazy man's spot.........Danglin

50", thanks for the post on how to filet KZ , I was very tired when i got home and your tips made thing easy to get that beast ready for the Cocina.

But to all wanting a sturgeon, Montezuma is thick with them.

I noticed " Rockies " bait shop just accross from the jack in the box where you make a right turn. It's in the shopping center behind Mc Donalds. If you still have'nt scored bait.

There is also suison marina, I'm not sure if there is a bait shop there but it appears everyone in that town fishes..........Danglin
