Hey guys for the handful of you that actually helped me out and gave me advise and I mean literally handful of you, thank you very much I was pretty exited to join a club because when I was in Texas I was part of one, (chasing tails) we would fish for red fish mainly and speckled trout we actually showed respect and pride for who we were I feel like NCKA is full of screen watchers I tried to participate and give reports or express ideas but it seems like people are mainly here to screen watch and not to share if we all shared ideas and or reported back we could actually get somewhere and catch more fish but anyway am I the only one that feels this way?

As a noob myself, this thread is amazing. What a tone deaf SOB. I have had nothing but genuine help from anything I have asked about.

I've met one guy from this site and he was awesome. I have no idea what his name is but he was hilarious.

Stuck in taffic on Highway 80, with my Hobie in my bed. I saw his sticker on his truck, gave him a thumbs up and he flipped me off... I was thinking fuck this guy. He starts rolling his window down all pissed off so I roll my window down too. I was probably going to tell him to "find a dick to suck". But before I could say anything, he put on a huge grin said "The middle finger is bigger than the thumb and I always over compensate." I laughed and said I just joined the site. He responded with this, "There are some huge dicks on that site, but mine is the biggest!!! Hahaha." Then he stabbed the gas, cut me off and took the next exit with his hand out switching between the middle finger and a thumbs up.  White guy in his mid to late thirties with a gold/tannish newer Z71.  Best in person intro to this forum I think I could've got.

Oh and if that asshole is in this thread  :smt097  :thumleft:

NCKA has helped me in so many areas. It gave me a real family that truly has my back and has been there for me in the most difficult times. My fishing skill has improved many times over, not only from the countless archives stuffed with valuable info, but also learning from those who have more experience than I, or their own techniques. I feel like I learn from this forum everytime I log in. Also, I've never known a group like this one that takes care of it's own so passionately. I was a screen watcher for quite some time before I came out to an event. And when I did- nobody knew who I was until I started eating all of their food! And then they offered more! My cup overflows...

It's like my favorite Beatles lyric:

"And in the end..... the love you take.... is equal to the love..... you make."

I will never forget fishing with you for the first time, Justin. You had my fathers tuna stick bent in the shape of a U for 10 minutes, swearing you had a big fish on, before finally CRACK! LOTyakLMAO[emoji23]

Good to have you on board.

Yep! And that was after I fell in and lost my own rod! I've learned a ton since then. Just another example of the NCKA vibe- letting me borrow a rod on the water; and he doesn't even know me. Then I break it. That snag put up a hell of a fight, Lol.

I dumped at Shelter, and I had a full set up and tackle ready to fish again (if I wanted) as soon as I warmed up on shore. Given more than I've got, that seems to be the common element among the fellowship.
Don't give up! Come to events, meet these people, interact & get to know them. They will be the ones that will be there when your world gets turned upside-down in the swell. Bring beer, good beer. Offer a beer to someone you just met. Talk to them, listen a while. Some fascinating people and characters here.

Wow!  I retired 10 years ago and discovered kayak fishing and NCKA.  My entire social circle was tied to my 34 year career when I hung up my work days.  NCKA immediately replaced my social circle with some of the greatest people on the planet.  There isn't a better bunch of people anywhere.  It's very hard to believe anyone wouldn't be thrilled to be a part of this group.  The diversity and unquestioning acceptance is beyond description.  NCKA is family at its best.

Due to a ton issues (dad's having anuerysym, divorce, job loss, etc) I haven't posted or been on the water in a while but this is one post I felt I needed to respond to.

The original post is total BS. When I first started kayak fishing and this board, I received more advice than I could process. I had people PM'ing to tell me to meet them at this body of water or inlet. I never once had a single person hesitate about saying yes when I asked if I could tag along. I met people like James that were almost more eager to show how to fish on the ocean than I was to learn (the man's a awesome teacher by the way).

I had people call me up and tell me I would be part of there team as GS7 when I had slacked off on signing.

The more you give the more you receive, with the original post at max being two weeks after joining is simply absurd. Just like every relationship in life it takes time to build and won't happen overnight or two weeks in this case.

Illustrates the mentality of the youth today....microwave that shit, I want it NOW! I deserve to have it, no need to put in the time and earn it.
