No, 50$ total for any rod.

They are really asking people to take advantage of them. Wonder how much rod costs them to produce.

Funny, I found a broken lamiglas in the garbage can at first st. in Benicia and called them and told them I have a broken fishing rod.  They told me to cut out the model and mail it and they gave me almost any rod for 50$.  Things may have changed.

Yup and I think that's exactly why they changed their warranty.

Lol! I'm not blaming you I think you are a good guy Eddie but what you just described is why companies can't have the awesome replacement warranties that they used too. I used to love lamiglas but they are a little brittle and high maintenance without the replacement policy.

-Eliot
Not defending but I told them I found it in a garbage can and flooded them with high praise and I think she buckled.  On another note, I've got two fin nor spools for my ifs 4000(discontinued)so I called van staal to ask if they would fit on any other model.  I told the gal that I flipped my kayak without the rod secured and it sunk into the drink.  She said I think we have one here that the bail doesn't trip.  She is going to see if she can repair it and it seemed like she was going to mail it for free, I'm kinda hoping.....I found those two spools in the same garbage can..........just kidding.  I do like to see what all these made in china companies offer for a phonecall.  Pennies to them and keepin' us happy with our junk.  On the other hand, I've had to replace 4 guides with my own cash on my made in usa seeker, and the best they could do was give me wholesale(?) on a new one.  Quality control..........I like costco warranties the best, but they wouldn't take back a massage table after one year, management was called over and I think we had a laugh :smt005 :smt006

Well played Eddie and kudos for being straight forward! That's a cool story. Sorry for questioning your character even a little as you are obviously an upstanding dude!

I'm going to keeping an eye on the rubbish bin from now on.

They have american made in Wash. state, saw the vid, they also have a china division like good ol' fenwick, I am sure the 50$ warranty rods gotta be less than 20 to produce?

With Yelp and internet chat boards you would think everyone would do  the no questions asked replacement.

I had a house I was selling and the buyer was getting a VA Loan his agent was an idjit and promised him new roof new ac new heater because they were old. The home inspection and roof inspection showed them as serviceable and not needing replacement. The Buyer complained online to B of A saying he was a Vet and they were causing undo delay in his closing on the house. B of A gave him $2000 to get him to stop bitching about their Service. It was all his and his agents fault but he got $2000 for bitching.

The internet is a great place to bitch, to get your way.

Loomis is great 2 rods  both my fault they replaced both free I paid shipping to them cant say enough good things about them.
Fenwick replaced my 15 year old trout rod I broke catching a 30 lb striper in SF Bay no questions asked replaced for free.
Zeiss repaired my $2000 binoculars for free I dropped them off tailgate onto the driveway.

All are companies I would  buy again from and recommend because of the great warranty service.

As a kid used to go to the Flea market and   buy Craftsman tools all the beat up and broke ones for  pennies go to Sears and they replaced no questions asked.

I also had a business that I sold a product with a double your money back guarantee, sold thousands and over 10 years I think less than 10  requested refund and received it.

Guarantees are a great incentive to buy and show the manufacturer has belief that their products are good and want customers to tell all their friends about what great products and service they have.

It should not matter if it was found in the garbage or if you bought it new it all is the manufacturers product and  they want  people to  have a positive experience with their company.

Now on the other hand a friend  repairs Turbos and  another  alternators and starters and nearly all returns are because they were
installed incorrectly ie crossed the  positive and negative wires or other installation problems. The Turbo guy has a flaming bad review on yelp all due to the end user not installing a rebuilt turbo correctly and wanting his money back.

Growing  up my dad had a Wholesale Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Supply Company and about 80% of electric motor or compressor returns ( maybe 100 returns a year)  were failure of the  Professional Techs  to install the wiring correctly. The manufacturers rep didnt even look at them just replaced them. I think he called it the cost of doing business.

This is a very american capitalist consumer controlled thread and I like it.  Power to the purchaser with our hard earned money.

One piece Daiwa rod snagged on bottom while trolling deep and snapped.  Outdoor Pro Shop sent it back and they got me a new rod for free.
I caught a salmon mooching with the remaining 2/3 rds before I went in.
Called Loomis about a rod that had a funky grip.  They replaced it for free.  I really like Loomis rods especially for steelhead.
I think  polite  calling helps.

I just got word back from van stall(fin nor) after I told them I have two spools for an inshore 4000 reel that has been discontinued.  Will they fit any of your other reels or do I just throw them away?  She said I think we have a 4000 on the bench that the bail won't trip.  Well, I flipped my kayak and dropped my 4000 with a vintage fenwick in the drink because I didn't have it tethered down.  They are sending me a repaired 4000 for 25$+tax&shp..I am stoked because I'm getting a reel back for 34.00$  I am pleased with fin nor and will promote their product. :smt007  This reel is going for 180.00 on Ebay because they are no longer in production.  Not that the value is important but the redemption of the flip fail.  Cptn. John trolled up my other rig and finnor hooked me up.  Happy Face!

I snapped an Ugly Stik Ultra Light about 7' from the grip catching a 52" Muskie. I called Ugly Stick and reported it. They asked if I was serious about catching a 52" Muskie on an Ultra Light. I told them I was and caught many large fish on that very pole to include a 40+lbs Catfish. The guy asked if I had a picture which I did. I sent him the picture of the broken rod sitting next to the Muskie. I once saw the picture on one of their flyers talking about the durability when I visited their factory in Iowa. I've never seen the flyer anywhere else. The rod was replaced. I love my Ugly Sticks.
