Got a late start due to the time change and launched at 0850 with my wife Karen in our Malibu 2 XL. Headed south towards the dam trolling a Rapala J7 Firetiger, Rapala SR5 Shad and water mellon 1/4 oz kastmaster (pimped) behind a watermellon dodger at 10 feet on my downrigger. Hooked a 11 inch trout (photo 1) on the downrigger off the buoy line about 45 minutes into the troll. First trout I have ever caught on the downrigger.  :smt003 Thanks dwest, Sean, Ken, John and Raymac for the suggestions and tips which finally paid off. Fishing was slow around the dam so I headed north to my favorite spot north of the island. Switched the J7 Firetiger to a SR5 Perch (pimped) and Karen hooked a nice 14 inch trout around 1030 (photo 2) on the Perch.  :smt005 Swithched from the Kastmaster to a trolling firetiger spinner tipped with orange powerbait behind the watermellon dodger and hooked a 12 inch trout fishing at 12 feet off the downrigger around 11:30. Changed the SR5 Shad to the new Green SR5 with red hooks and hooked a 13 inch trout around 12:15. Called it a day with with 4 trout in the boat (photo 3) and had a shore lunch on the island before heading home. Stopped in Los Gatos for some "window" shopping on the way home to trout for dinner. Met some yak anglers who I didn't know all pretty much trout trolling (photo 4). All in all a great day on the water on one of the nicest lakes in NCAL.

Nice going Scott! I have to agree with you - The Loch is a beautiful lake (one of the few lakes that does not have a gun range nearby :smt002) Too bad they don't have camping in the area  :smt011

John

Neither of the trout popped the release. I had to look at the rod to know they were on. The Scotty Laketroller I bought didn't come with an adjustable release clip so I can only adjust it by how the line is clipped. I am also running an in-line snubber between the weight and the release which may be compounding the release problem. Thanks for your suggestions, I didn't have a chance to try my "Airey" rig (scented grub behind a wooly bugger behind a dodger).
