Hi guys,
I did search old posts back to 2006 about PR launch.
How's the launch there nowadays? Where to park? Wheeleez required?
Thanks

I been looking for launch spots for PR and all I've found is Tomales, out the mouth is sketchy, and I believe Doran, but that is Bodega Head, and other spots seem like a haul, Limantour, lotta MPA action at PR, not sure the spot your attempting to fish, either way, noob here, maybe someone else has some leads....... :smt006

I should make it clear. I am talking Lifeboat Station in PR.
Old thread said to drive down, unload, park at the circle. But that was in 2007.
Things must have been changed since then.
Anyone has been launching there lately ?

I have never launched from Point Reyes, but that's definitely the place to be right now for salmon.

I was at Limantour on Saturday for a friends B-Bay beach bonfire. Lots of commercial boats were trolling just offshore. BUT... the shore break was definitely more than I'd want to mess with.

Last time I was around there they had the whole road blocked past a certain point, with shuttle buses from the drakes beach parking lot.  Only lodgers and locals allowed to drive anywhere near there.

But it was a weekend, maybe still allowed but I doubt it,

Give'em a call
(415) 464-5100
This number will initially be answered by an automated attendant, from which one can opt to access a name directory, listen to recorded information about the park (i.e., directions to the park; visitor center hours of operation; weather forecast; fire danger information; shuttle bus system status; wildlife updates; ranger-led programs; seasonal events; etc.), or speak with a ranger. Please note that if you are calling between 4:30 pm and 10 am, park staff may not be available to answer your call.

The old thread suggested to ignore " Authorized Vehicle Only" sign and just drive down. He did not have any problem even with local. Like I said that was a while back.

Hence the question if anyone has been there lately?

Alex, I don't want to mess around with the break @ Drake Beach either.

I think even paddling through the SMR with fish is illegal. So you can't launch at Drake's Beach even if you plan to fish outside the reserve.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

I was told " You should be ok driving through to unload kayak as long as you park up the hill. Also the ramp will be closed if sea lions are there, so you have to launch at the muddy side".

That was probably my reports you searched up.Launching from chimney rock lifeboat station. Its a long drive from anywhere but a super-protected launch. Sometimes the gate is open down to the water sometimes it isn't. No matter cause it is ap pretty short hike but kinda steep. Bring your wheels.

It's fine.
