Went to Clearlake with Mahi, Kickinbass, and H20spider to see if we could rustle up some LMB.  We launched at Konacti Vista Casino...depressing scene, but very nice marina.  As soon as we got on the water the boat traffic from the tourney was very evident...high-end sparkly bass boats everywhere.

Things got off to a good start when Mahi landed a nice fish right between tow tounament anglers that were getting skunked.  They no longer like Mahi.  We decide to ditch some traffic and go down a shallow slough that looked bassy...

Having absolutely no idea how to bass fish I decided to just slow troll live minnows along structure...it worked!  About 50 feet down the slough I caught my first bass of the day...

After a flurry of action my 6 minnows were gone.  I told Terry (H20..an excellent bass fisher) to shield his eyes as I did the unthinkable.  I changed my live bait hook to a worm hook and started to troll a baby brush hog.  Kickinbass was clearly annoyed by my "hillybilly style we later named "draggin hawg".  He looked more peeved when it produced my nicest fish of the day in a few minutes...lo ciento senor Andy!

Meanwhile the rest of the crew was catching bass as well but they will have to put up the rest of the pics.  The final bite of the day was also sweet as Kickinbass got an explosive hookup right in front of another tournament boat.  We ended the day with a couple of cool Coronas and snacks at the casino.  Great food, but depressing and smokey scene.  Super fun day all together.

ALL fishies were released.

you could at least get some nice red and white outfits plastered with logos.

how fast did you troll the hawg and how did you keep it down?

I got sent some junebug color powerbait sabretails as a free gift.

been thinking something like that might work. if you can't keep the kayak
steady, might as well just make lemons out of lemonade.

Felt good to see kayakers playing the spoiler and catching fish right in front of "the pros".
When I left the casino I decided to head to the south end and have a few more brews and sling some senkos off the docks at the Richmond Park B&G. That is where I saw "her".
The ultimate C-lake kayak mother ship. Reminded me of something that we could all pile into and head for the KISS concert. Here is the "hog draggin" victim and the boat that made me consider selling my house and live in a van down on the river.

Custom van/house boat hybrid...SOOOooooo Clearlake!

JM: I was basically using a Mendo live bait rig with a worm hook and I trolled it parallel to the shore...it had a nice action to it believe it or not.

cool boat.  I'd hold out for the one you can put the boat-top camper on..   :smt007

just a quarter oz egg sinker, carolina rig is the mendo rig? how slow? like barely moving? 0.5 mph?

going that slow is my biggest problem.

About the van/boat/living quarters,

You know your a redneck when, you live in a converted van boat, not down by the river, but in Clear lake.
